My Uni Course

In the two years since transferring into Multimedia Systems I’ve come to realize something. My course is unique. Most people, when they hear Multimedia Systems think “oh, a mix of design and CompSci”. Nope, I had entrepreneurship subjects.

I guess I can see the good in that. What I think RMIT is doing with this course is they want graduates who are specialized in a certain field but aren’t necessarily compartmentalized in the said field. In short, they want Multimedia graduates with a wider base of skills and knowledge. So I guess they want designers with entrepreneurial and marketing know-how or programmers with an understanding of good design.

That being said I think the biggest disadvantage of a course like this is a jack-of-all-trades-aces-of-none problem. We get such a wide range of subjects but our course is only 4 years. In that short time I don’t think we can excel in our chosen field as much as the more specialized courses.

So in short the question in my head is will taking the honours route give me more? Will another year be better?
